Insights into heat and lithium production

As part of a visit to the Insheim geothermal power plant at the end of July, 40 students and doctoral candidates from the renowned Tongji University in Shanghai learned about the role and use of deep geothermal energy in the Upper Rhine Graben.

During a presentation and subsequent tour of the power plant, the group of Chinese visitors not only had the opportunity to find out about Vulcan’s heat and lithium extraction project, but also to talk to employees of the German-Australian company.

The students and doctoral candidates were particularly interested in Vulcan’s process for climate-neutral lithium extraction.

The visit to GKW Insheim was requested by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), which cooperates with the Chinese university in the field of environmental and climate research.
