This is the first lithium produced entirely in Europe\u2014for Europe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-last-item\">Results show a consistent efficiency of over 90% (up to 95%) in the extraction of lithium from geothermal brine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-last-item\">With a company investment of more than 40 million euros, the LEOP is a facility primarily designed to optimize operational processes, conduct product quality tests, and train and prepare the production team for the operation of the commercial plant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-last-item\">The LEOP is based on the experience Vulcan has gained in its in-house laboratories and pilot plants in Insheim and Landau, where the A-DLE extraction process was successfully tested over three years and more than 10,000 hours.<\/p>\n    <\/div>\n  \n  \n\n        <span class=\"Headline block hyphens-auto text-primary\">The <strong>procedure<\/strong>.<\/span>\n      <\/h2>\n                            <div class=\"mx-auto lg:mx-0 \">\n                <div class=\"text-default\">\n                  <p class=\"mb-last-item\">To extract lithium from thermal water, we use the Direct Lithium Extraction adsorption process, which has been commercially proven in the lithium industry since the 1990s. Compared to conventional extraction processes, this has advantages such as lower operating costs, lower water consumption and a smaller CO2 footprint. For direct lithium extraction, we use \u201cVULSORB,\u201d a sorbent we developed ourselves. There, the lithium chloride is converted into battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate (LHM) through electrolysis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-last-item\">The CLEOP opened in the fall of 2024.
